Product Review: Maybelline 24K Nudes Palette

I was sent another complimentary Influenster box of products.  This time I was sent the new Maybelline 24K Nudes Palette.  Just to be nice they also thew in a mascara and eye liner.

The Palette

According to the Mabelline web site “The 24K Nudes Eyeshadow Palette feature 12 expertly curated shades for custom eye makeup looks.”  Regarding benefits it goes on to say……”This 12-shade eyeshadow palette features dazzling colors infused with metallic gold pigments.  From sparkling gold and shimmering nude to gilded smoke and aubergine spark, this makeup palette is perfect for creating versatile eye looks.”

I’ll be honest.  This palette is decent.  I was surprised at the quality.  In the past, drugstore palettes haven’t been the best quality so my expectations weren’t that high.  The web site lists it at $11.99 for 12 shadows which is a good deal.

Here are swatches of what the colors look like on me:

The darker colors are pretty pigmented and have good color payoff.  Some of the shimmery shades could have been more pigmented.  Those colors had more shimmer than actual color.  I also wish there were more matte options.  There is no matte color that I wanted to use in my crease, which I usually use a tan or brown matte shade.

The Mascara – Falsies Push Up Angel

This mascara is very different.  The wand is plastic and has small bristles on one side.  The web site says its supposed to give “long, flared and flirty” lashes.  I was a little disappointed with this product because I’ve always loved Maybelline’s mascaras in the past.  Out of all the drugstore brands I think they do mascara the best.  This one gives a very natural looking lash, nothing over the top, and nothing like what the description says.  It does do a good job of combing your lashes and it doesn’t clump.

It’s not practical is you’re someone who puts mascara on your bottom lashes.  This brush would make that very challenging.  In fact, applying this mascara was a little challenging because the wand is so different, with bristles only on one side.

I could do without it.  I prefer a more dramatic eyelash.  If I’m going to wear mascara I want to see a big difference between my natural lash and the lash with mascara.

The Eyeliner – Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil

This eyeliner is amazing!  I actually already had this exact eyeliner in a vibrant blue color.  They sent it to me in black.  It’s super smooth and easy to use.  It reminds me of the Marc Jacobs eyeliner I reviewed in this post.

I would definitely recommend this eyeliner.  It performs like a high end product.

My Overall Thoughts

The palette is just ok.  On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best I’d give it a 5.  Even though the price is good there are other drug store brands that are cheaper with better quality.

I would recommend the mascara to people who like a light application.  I wouldn’t buy it because like I said I like a heavier application.

The eyeliners are a YES YES YES!  They’re smooth and glide on so easily.

Let me know if you guys have tried any of these products and what you think.  Check out my Instagram for pictures of looks I’ve created with these products. Until next time!
