I’ve been using a new serum for the past month or so and I love it! It’s Mario Badescu’s Vitamin C serum. I picked it up at Ulta one day after doing research on a whole lot of other serums. It retails for $50 for 1 oz. of product.
Most people who don’t use serums don’t usually because they don’t know how beneficial they are or because of the price, or both. Serums penetrate the skin a lot deeper than other products like a cleanser or moisturizer. They have the highest concentration of active ingredients that you can get with an over the counter product. A cleanser or moisturizer may contain about 5-10% of active ingredients, where a serum has up to about 70%. There’s a serum for different skin concerns like anti-aging/collagen building, dark spots, oil controlling, etc.
Vitamin C is awesome for lightening dark spots and brightening skin which are the main reasons I picked this one up. It’s also good for anti-aging and protecting your skin from environmental pollutants.
Usually I advise clients to use a product based on what the directions say. For this product the directions say to use the serum every other night. I would advise a client to start out using it every other night and gradually increase usage to every night if no irritation develops. The directions on most serums say to use at night but they can be used at night and in the morning. Personally I think the directions instruct customers to use once a day or every other day so the product will last longer and they don’t feel as bad for paying so much money for one product.
I want to get the most out of my skin care; usually the cost isn’t my first concern. I use it every day, morning and night. I know my skin and my skin is not sensitive to Vitamin C so I knew using it this often wouldn’t be a problem for me. The results have been awesome. I get acne scarring all the time and those spots have lightened since I started using this serum. And my skin looks brighter. This serum has been the main reason my skin has been doing so well since the weather has changed. I definitely recommend it.

It retails for $45 with is an awesome price for a serum. And it lasts for quite some time because you only use a few drops at a time.
