Preventing Wrinkles

Hey guys!  Today I’m going to be giving a few random skin care tips that you either may not know or forgot, but will help prevent wrinkles.

Face – Up & Out Method

1.When cleansing, applying moisturizers and serums make sure you rub up and outward to prevent wrinkles.  Over the course of time rubbing products into your skin can cause wrinkles or make them worse because your pulling/dragging your skin downward.  So remember to always rub up and out or you can pat your products into the skin.  This takes longer for them to absorb so I recommend the up and out method.pat dont rub

Also pat your face dry with a clean towel, don’t rub for the same reasons.

Hands

2. A lot of people neglect their hands when it comes to skin care.  Putting on lotion sometimes is the most love people give their hands.  But your hands do a lot of work and get used more than most other body parts. Because a lot of people don’t take care of their old young handhands that’s usually a dead giveaway for their age.   The skin on your hands age just like skin on the rest of your body.  Here are some tips to help with that:

Make sure to exfoliate your hands to remove dead skin cells, just like you would your face and body.  This should be done 2-3 times per week.  If you are extra rough on your hands you can exfoliate every other day.

steering wheel hands

3. Use a sunscreen or moisturizer with sunscreen on your hands.  Especially since we’ve hit
record highs with the weather, this is an important tip.  When you drive your hands are on the steering wheel and get extra exposure to the sun.  The sunscreen will help protect your hands.

Let me know if you guys use any of these tips and how they work for you!

Baking soda! I got baking soda!

So….baking soda is something most people already have in their possession.  The most popular use is probably to keep items in the refrigerator nice and fresh.  It has a lot of different uses including skin care.  I like it because it’s super inexpentoothbrush baking sodasive, you can find it anywhere, and it’s very effective.  When I was little my mama made me and my sister brush our teeth with nothing but baking soda.  It is GRRRROSSSS!!!!  But it’s effective because it’s a teeth whitener.

Lately there have been several cleansers put on the market that include baking soda, which is the selling point/the main claim of the product.  But remember what I told you guys about reading labels.  Check out the ingredients to see exactly where baking soda falls.  If you haven’t read that post, click this link:

Here is a list of what you can use your baking soda for:

1. Use as an exfoliator.  Baking soda makes a great exfoliator even for sensitive skin.  Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with a few drops of water, just enough to create a paste that’s not too think and not runny.  Also add in some salt or sugar.  Sugar works better for people with sensitive skin.

TIP:  If you want you can add essential oils.  If you have oily/acne prone skin adding 100% tea tree oil will help treat the acne while exfoliating.  Anyone can also add vitamin E oil, but it is especially beneficial for those with dry or combination dry skin.

*** Before trying anything knew I always recommend testing an area on your arm before trying it on your face.

Here’s the order of how you should do this regimen:

  • Cleanse your face. Towel dry.
  • Apply baking soda mixture and rub in circular motions for 2-3 minutes.
  • Rinse and towel dry.
  • If you want to treat yourself you can apply a mask, leave on for 15 minutes, rinse and towel dry. If not you can skip this step.
  • Apply serums if you have them.
  • Moisturize.

2.  Add to your cleanser. A much simpler option is to add baking soda to your existing cleanser.  The above method will exfoliate more and lead to better results but this option is good for lazy moments or if you’re short on time.

3.  Put it in your bath water. This will provide a very gentle exfoliation.  Adding some essential oils would be perfect to add to the relaxation experience.  I’d recommend either lavender, mint, or rose to help relieve stress and relax.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post.  I’m going to be testing this receipe and comparing it to other cleansers.  Let me know if there’s a product you want me to try out and review.
